2 in West Fargo arrested on drug charges

On Behalf of | Feb 15, 2022 | Drug Charges

Various agencies and drug task forces exist to help stem the tide of illegal drugs that make their way onto the streets of North Dakota and the surrounding areas. Often, the agencies work with other law enforcement administrations to investigate alleged drug activity and make arrests of those involved. As a result of a recent multiagency investigation and bust operation, two men in West Fargo now face serious charges for drug possession with the intent to distribute.

Details concerning investigation and arrests

Early in Dec. 2021, members of the Cass County Drug Task Force and a local Drug Enforcement Agency received word that an illegal methamphetamine distribution network was working out of a local hotel. According to a news report published on Dec. 28, authorities obtained warrants to search the room where the suspected activity was taking place. There, they uncovered more than 9 pounds of the illegal drug.

Two men, ages 38 and 39, both from Los Angeles, California, were arrested and taken to the Cass County Jail under suspicion of conspiracy to possess and intent to distribute a controlled substance. Along with the drugs, authorities also seized one of the suspect’s cars. The case is expected to be heard in the U.S. District Court for in North Dakota.

Right to defense

As this case may result in federal prosecution, each of the men accused of these drug crimes will want to work directly with an experienced criminal defense attorney as soon as possible. A lawyer will analyze all aspects of the investigation, searches and arrests and work to achieve the most favorable outcome possible for the accused. An attorney will also be invaluable in seeking to reduce sentence requirements should the case result in a conviction of the charges.
