Man convicted on drug charges sentenced to 12 years

A North Dakota man who was found guilty on July 28 for conspiracy to distribute drugs that resulted in injury or death received 12 years in prison. According to reports, the 53-year-old man was accused of bringing over 33 pounds of methamphetamine into the state. The methamphetamine was allegedly linked to two deaths caused by overdose. The man who was sentenced was just one of several individuals who were indicted in 2013. The man and a second person were both charged for the death of the man's 59-year-old girlfriend on Feb. 6, 2013.

North Dakota man facing drug charges after disrupting hotel

A North Dakota man was taken into police custody on July 12 after he was accused of causing a disturbance at the hotel where he had been staying. According to the report, the 22-year-old man was accused of running through the hallways in his underwear while screaming at 3:39 a.m.

Man loses appeal after receiving life sentence for drug crimes

A man who received a life sentence after he was convicted in a North Dakota drug case has lost his appeal. The man reportedly argued to the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that the jury who convicted him had been prejudiced by the judge's instructions. The jury was given the instructions after listening to the closing arguments from the defendant's lawyer.

Son of Robert Downey Jr. faces drug charges

North Dakota fans of Robert Downey Jr. may be dismayed by his son's recent encounter with the law in West Hollywood. The car in which the 20-year-old was riding was pulled over on June 29, resulting in his being taken into custody. Two additional occupants were in the vehicle. However, they were not detained. The actor's son is facing drug possession charges for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police believed the controlled substance to be cocaine.

Sentencing postponed for man who sold illegal drugs that killed 2

A 26-year-old man who was convicted on drug-related charges after selling synthetic drugs that led to the deaths of two North Dakota residents had his sentencing postponed on June 30. According to the report, the man is the latest of 15 individuals to be convicted as part of a crackdown that is being called "Operation Stolen Youth."
