North Dakota drug court allows judge to work with offenders

It is typical for judges and drug offenders to be at odds in the courtroom, but a program in Grand Forks allows an area judge to focus on helping those trying to overcome their challenges. These meetings provide an opportunity for encouraging those dealing with the consequences of their drug crimes to overcome addictions and make positive changes. Although a bill promoting further establishment of such solutions was recently proposed at the state level, lawmakers have killed the legislation in question.

North Dakota woman charged with DUI after collision

A 30-year-old woman was allegedly drunk when she crashed her car on Interstate 29 in Fargo on April 13. Authorities said she suffered serious injuries. According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the woman was headed northbound on I-29 in a 1999 Lexus when she smashed into the back of a 2003 Honda Accord near the 13th Avenue overpass at approximately 12:30 a.m. The impact forced the Honda into another northbound lane, and the Lexus landed in a ditch. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage.

What is indecent exposure?

Some crimes like indecent exposure can be difficult to understand because one's actions and intent matter. In North Dakota and other states, indecent exposure usually involves displaying one's genitals in public in an attempt to receive sexual gratification. Indecent exposure is a serious offense that can sometimes lead to time in prison.
