On occasion, some people in North Dakota may resort to violence to settle an argument or enact punishment on someone who wronged them. However, those who choose to try and solve problems through violent acts will likely find themselves in legal trouble. A man from West Fargo was arrested for shooting and wounding another individual.
Incident and arrest
Around 8:30 p.m. on July 8, police responded to a report of a suspect with a handgun. The incident reportedly occurred in Grand Forks, but the exact location was not specified. Reportedly, a person had been shot, and witnesses apparently provided a description of a suspect’s vehicle.
Police were able to locate an individual after spotting the car. The 19-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and terrorizing. He had not been formally charged at the time of the report. The shooting victim was reportedly taken to a local hospital for treatment injuries not considered life-threatening.
Mounting a defense
As he awaits his arraignment, and certainly after being formally charged, the man will want to work closely with an experienced criminal defense attorney in North Dakota. A lawyer can help a client decide on how to plead against the charges at his arraignment. A defense attorney will also fight tirelessly to help the client protect his rights and pursue the most favorable outcome possible for the serious charges he faces.
