Couple facing charges after long police chase

On Behalf of | Jul 5, 2022 | Criminal Defense

A man and a woman are currently being held in Cass County Jail after their arrests stemming from a long and wild police chase. The North Dakota residents were arrested following a pursuit by law enforcement that spanned across the greater Fargo and Morehead Metro areas. Now, the two are likely considering their options for criminal defense as they face serious charges in relation to the incident.

Police chase and arrests

Around 11 p.m. on June 22, officers with the Fargo Police Department attempted a traffic stop on a 1988 Chevrolet pickup. Reportedly, officers had attempted to stop the truck twice previously, but the driver fled. During this third attempt at a traffic stop, the driver again is said to have fled the scene and sped away toward Moorhead.

In Moorhead, officers with the Moorhead Police tried unsuccessfully to stop the pickup by using spike strips. The pickup kept on going and eventually got onto I-94 to head back toward Fargo. At University Drive, the pickup drove through barriers set up for road construction and got stuck in some mud. Reportedly, the two individuals in the pickup then attempted to flee on foot.

Seeking defense counsel for these types of charges

The 33-year-old driver was charged with felony fleeing, driving under suspension and aggravated reckless endangerment. His 30-year-old female passenger was charged with providing false information to law enforcement as well as for a previous warrant against her. Considering the seriousness of these charges, these individuals will likely each benefit from the assistance of an experienced criminal defense lawyer in North Dakota to help them achieve the most favorable outcome possible.
