In North Dakota and elsewhere, law enforcement is concerned with stopping illegal activity and making the streets safe for all. One of the most common reasons law enforcement officers make arrests has to do with illegal drug activity. One man in Fargo recently found that out the hard way after he was arrested on a variety of drug charges.
High-risk warrant and arrest
Around 8 p.m. during the evening of Thursday, April 7, the Red Valley SWAT Team executed a high-risk warrant at a location in South Fargo. The knock-and-announce warrant was served after authorities apparently learned of suspected criminal activity at the location. Reportedly, several individuals were at the location. No one was harmed in the execution of the warrant.
Initial reports stated that several people were arrested. However, an update confirmed that several people had been detained and then released, but only one person was actually arrested. The accused is a 41-year-old man, and he now faces charges of heroin and meth possession along with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Right to defense
The report did not specify why authorities suspected criminal activity at the location, leading to the high-risk warrant. As such, a criminal defense attorney will likely investigate all aspects of the raid along with the tactics law enforcement used to make the arrest. Considering all that is at stake for the accused in this case, he will certainly want to retain the services of an experienced criminal defense lawyer in North Dakota to increase his chances of obtaining the best outcome possible.
