Law enforcement authorities in Fargo were recently contacted by a woman who told them her 19-year-old daughter sent her a message asking for help. The teenager had gone to talk to a former boyfriend at his request, and he allegedly refused to let her leave. The man has since been arrested on kidnapping charges.
The case
According to reports, police received a call from the victim’s mother around 11:44 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 24. They went to the address given to them and could not locate the victim. They found her the next day after she sent another text asking for help.
Authorities located her and a 24-year-old male in a black vehicle parked on a gravel road in Moorhead. The female told officers she tried to leave the man’s vehicle on multiple occasions but that he repeatedly forced her back in. Outside of him grabbing her a few times and her hitting her hand on the car door, she was not physically harmed.
The accused
The accused is said to have resisted arrested but was eventually taken into custody. He was charged with kidnapping, which is a rare charge in the area. Bond was set in his case at $50,000.
